Dirk Nowitzky has become pretty darn good at this Twitter thing. The soon-to-be 40-year-old Dallas Mavericks star is also pretty good at basketball, as we all know. And he’s not letting go of the game he loves, hoping to once again play in 2018-19 after overcoming an ankle injury that required surgery.
Combining these two aspects of his life perfectly, Nowitzky posted a hilarious joke text sequence he says was inspired by Victor Oladipo’s text to his trainer just minutes after the Indiana Pacers were eliminated in the playoffs.
I got inspired by @VicOladipo. I also texted my trainer. Here is his response… @HoopConsultants pic.twitter.com/Wgo1p0dmh1

I chuckled. Then I read it again and chuckled some more.
Nowitzki isn’t the same player he was in his prime, but he’s earned the right to play to his heart’s content. Who cares if he can’t make it down the court without doubling over in a wheezing fit?
