The Detroit Lions, short at the running back position, are reportedly working out free agent Jay Ajayi, who recently got a clean bill of health following his ACL injury last year.
Detroit recently put last year’s second-round pick, Kerryon Johnson, on injured reserve with a knee injury. Their current depth chart at the position isn’t great, with rookie Ty Johnson and JD McKissic being their two best options.
When healthy, Ajayi has proven himself to be quite capable of making big plays and helping an offense thrive. He was a big part of the Super Bowl winning Philadelphia Eagles team in 2017 and was playing well last year before his knee injury.
