The Dallas Mavericks are hiring two-time WNBA champion Kristi Toliver as an assistant on Jason Kidd’s coaching staff, ESPN reported Thursday.

Toliver, 34, is playing for the Los Angeles Sparks this season. On Tuesday night, her turnaround jumper as time expired forced overtime and L.A. went on to defeat the Atlanta Dream, 85-80.

She was a member of the Washington Wizards’ coaching staff during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

Toliver is averaging 9.5 points and 2.7 assists in 15 starts this season for the Sparks.

A three-time All-Star and the No. 3 overall pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft, Toliver was the league’s Most Improved Player in 2012 and won titles with the Sparks in 2016 and Washington Mystics in 2019.

The Mavericks hired Kidd in June. The Hall of Fame point guard replaces Rick Carlisle, who left to coach the Indiana Pacers after 13 seasons in Dallas.
