After getting shut out of advancing to the Super Bowl, Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback Andrew Luck was the No. 1 draft pick for the upcoming Pro Bowl.
While the sting of losing so badly to the New England Patriots must still weigh on Luck, former NFL receiver Cris Carter didn’t let that stop him from poking a little fun at the quarterback he selected first overall in the Pro Bowl draft (via NFL.com).
We’re going take a little air out the football for him, though.
Luck, who took it all in stride, told NFL Media’s Chris Rose that being selected first overall was “neat.”
Coincidentally, Luck has a pattern of being selected first overall in drafts. He was chosen first in the 2013 Pro Bowl fantasy football style draft and he was the first overall draft pick in the NFL’s 2012 draft.
As you can tell from Colts’ defensive end Robert Mathis’ tweet, this didn’t go unnoticed.

Why shouldn’t Luck continue to be the first pick everyone wants to draft? Over his first three seasons in the NFL, Luck is three-for-three in Pro Bowl appearances. Luck also boasts stellar numbers over his short three-year career, averaging 4,319 passing yards and 28.7 touchdowns per season.
Improving from his rookie season where Luck had a 54.1 percent completion rate, this past season saw him complete 61.7 percent of his passes. As shown by Luck’s impressive numbers, he is certainly worthy of all his accomplishments thus far in his three-year career.
Sunday’s Pro Bowl should provide Luck a fun time among mixed NFL friends and teammates to shake off last week’s blowout loss to the New England Patriots. Additionally, there should be plenty of deflated ball jokes to go around.
