Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn committed to return to the team for the 2022 season, removing himself from consideration for remaining NFL head coach positions.

Quinn interviewed with the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears, who selected other coaches on Thursday, and twice interviewed with the New York Giants.

Quinn was also a candidate to become head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins. He removed himself from consideration for those posts on Thursday.

As head coach of the Falcons, Quinn was 43-42 and took Atlanta to Super Bowl LI, finishing as runner-up in a 34-28 loss to the New England Patriots.

He was fired in 2020 and spent last season as defensive coordinator of the Cowboys under Mike McCarthy.

While Quinn is likely to be a coaching candidate again in January 2023, McCarthy’s future is not guaranteed after a wild-card round loss to the San Francisco 49ers that left owner Jerry Jones “as disappointed as I’ve ever been after a loss.”
