The writing had been on the wall for some time here. The Indianapolis Colts have reportedly fired head coach Chuck Pagano after a disastrous 4-12 season.

In no way can this be considered a surprise. Pagano had been on the hot seat for well over a year now. And with the team going nowhere fast, it was time for this marriage to come to an end.
A season that was defined by the organization’s handling of Andrew Luck’s shoulder injury culminated in a meaningless win over Houston on Sunday. At the very least, this means that Pagano went out on top as the Colts’ head coach.
In his six seasons with the Colts, Pagano put up a 53-43 record, leading the team to a playoff appearance in each of his first three seasons. It was downhill from there, with the Colts failing to make the playoffs in each of the past three years.
