The Indianapolis Colts led the way with seven Pro Bowl selections when the rosters were announced Wednesday evening.
The Colts’ Pro Bowlers include star running back Jonathan Taylor, one of the leading contenders for NFL Most Valuable Player, and standout linebacker Darius Leonard.
The Chiefs and Chargers had six selections each, including Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Los Angeles signal-caller Justin Herbert.
Five other teams have five representatives selected for the Feb. 6 game in Las Vegas:
–The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ contingent is led by quarterback Tom Brady, who set an NFL record with his 15th Pro Bowl nod, although tackle Tristan Wirfs is the team’s lone Pro Bowl starter.
–Linebacker Micah Parsons, one of four rookies on the Pro Bowl rosters, highlights the Dallas Cowboys’ five Pro Bowl selections. Trevon Diggs, who leads the NFL with 10 interceptions, also was named a starter, as was veteran guard Zack Martin.
–The Baltimore Ravens’ group includes quarterback Lamar Jackson and features one starter, tight end Mark Andrews.
–Defensive end Myles Garrett highlights the Cleveland Browns’ quintet, which also includes starting guard Joel Bitonio.
–The San Francisco 49ers have four starters among their five Pro Bowl picks — fullback Kyle Juszczyk, tackle Trent Williams, tight end George Kittle and defensive end Nick Bosa.
The starting quarterbacks for the NFC is the Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers. Herbert will be backed up on the AFC roster by Mahomes and Jackson, while Rodgers is joined on the NFC roster by Brady and the Arizona Cardinals’ Kyler Murray.
In addition to Parsons, the other rookies on the Pro Bowl teams are Cincinnati Bengals wideout Ja’Marr Chase, Chargers offensive tackle Rashawn Slater and Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts. Chase and Slater are starters on the AFC squad.
