Colin Kaepernick benched for Blaine Gabbert in Chicago

Colin Kaepernick, who came into Sunday on a hot streak, went ice cold in the frozen tundra that was Soldier Field on Sunday.

After going for just four yards on 1-of-5 passing, the San Francisco 49ers signal caller was benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert as the 49ers were getting waxed 24-6 by the Chicago Bears.

Kaepernick had also been sacked five times in this game, losing 25 yards in the process. He did manage 20 yards on the ground, meaning he actually netted minus-one yard before Chip Kelly finally pulled him in favor of Gabbert.

Then, to add insult to injury, Gabbert hit his first pass of the game, an 18-yard completion to Jeremy Kerley.

The 49ers post-game press conference is going to be so much fun! Let the quarterback controversy begin.
