It took until Week 14 for rookie Chase Brown to score the first touchdown of this NFL career. But he got to the end zone faster than than only one other NFL player this season.
The Cincinnati Bengals running back took a screen pass from quarterback Jake Browning and scampered 54 yards up the sidelines to give the Bengals a 7-0 lead in the first quarter over the Indianapolis Colts.
According to the NFL NextGen stats, Chase Brown reached a top speed of 22.05 mph. His top speed was second behind Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf’s speed of 22.23 on a 73-yard TD reception against Dallas last week.
Chase Brown, who was drafted in the fifth round out of the University of Illinois, saw his first significant game action last Monday night during the Bengals’ overtime victory over the the Jacksonville Jaguars, when he rushed nine times for 61 yards, with the highlight being a 31-yard run.
Before that, Chase Brown, who has served as a backup to Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon, only had five other opportunities to touch the football all season, and the previous time came during Week 6, with one carry and one reception for a total of six yards. His only other touch was a 2-yard carry in Week 2.

Coming out of college, Chase Brown was among the fastest running backs with a 4.43 40-yard dash, and he was rated as one of the most athletic backs available.
