Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams sustained a back injury during Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Denver Broncos and was ruled questionable to return.

Williams made a catch and was tackled with less than three minutes remaining in the first half. One Broncos defender landed on top of Williams with some force.

Williams had to be carted back to the locker room. He had four catches for 32 yards before exiting.

The Chargers were locked into the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoffs no matter what happens with Sunday’s results, but coach Brandon Staley opted to play his starters rather than rest them and try to minimize injuries.

Williams missed four games in the middle of the season with an ankle injury. Despite that, he still had a team-high 863 receiving yards entering Sunday, with 59 catches and four touchdowns.
