Cardinals activate Patrick Peterson following six-game suspension

After missing the first six weeks of the season due to a suspension, Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson will rejoin the Arizona Cardinals and suit up for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.

Arizona activated its star cornerback off the suspended list and put him on its active roster on Saturday following a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

The three-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowl corner will return to the lineup just weeks before the NFL’s trade deadline. While Arizona’s general manager Steve Keim has denied rumors that the team will trade Peterson, it likely won’t stop the speculation in the weeks ahead.

Peterson’s return will be a significant boost for Arizona’s defense. However, it will still likely remain the team’s biggest weakness over the rest of the year.
