Immediately after the Buffalo Bills acquired LeSean McCoy, it was clear that they wouldn’t be bringing Spiller back. Since then, the former first-round pick has been somewhat on the back burner as the first wave of free agency hit.
If the Saints were to sign, he would join lead running back Mark Ingram as the top dogs in New Orleans’ backfield.
Over the course of Spiller’s five-year career with the Buffalo Bills, his stats have varied from one end of the spectrum to the other. Racking up a total of 3,321 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, Spiller has posted just one 1,000-plus yard season. However, he is averaging 5.0 yards per carry over his five-year career.
Should Spiller come to terms with the Saints, he would find himself splitting carries once again.
The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys are also said to be interested in Spiller’s services.
