Now that Manny Machado has reportedly agreed to a mega-deal with the San Diego Padres, teams still looking for a star have to be all-in on Bryce Harper.
But according to Andy Martino of SNY the team most expect to sign Harper might not be as sure a thing as you’d think.
The San Francisco Giants, who’ve stepped into the spotlight in recent weeks as an ardent suitor, are still trying to make it happen. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly facing “a tough road to get it done,” per Martino.
Again, as reported yesterday, Phillies could step up to $326 million and increase their chances for Harper, but irs not clear yet if they’ll go that high.

San Francisco has been favored by oddmakers to land Harper recently. San Diego was also a heavy suitor but is reportedly out of the Harper sweepstakes after having landed Machado. Philadelphia seems like it would be an ideal landing spot. The Washington Nationals are also not completely out of it.
In short, there’s still as much uncertainty surrounding Harper as there ever was. So, we may not get any answers for a while longer.
