Browns head coach Hue Jackson made this announcement on Wednesday ahead of training camp practices.

Wednesday’s announcement was the first anyone outside the organization had heard about it. Jackson explained a bit later that Lewis had offseason surgery after the injury hadn’t healed as the team hoped.

Louis was set to enter his third season as a pro. A former fourth-round pick out of Auburn in 2016, the 24-year-old receiver has caught 45 passes for 562 yards in his first two seasons with the Browns.
