The Denver Broncos are building a privately financed, state-of-the-art training facility and team headquarters in Englewood, Colo., with a target opening date of 2026.

The three-story, 205,000-square foot training facility will be 30 percent larger than the existing Centura Health Training Center and built on its campus.

The Broncos did not reveal the cost of the upgraded buildings, but the ownership group probably won’t have a tough time footing the bill. The Broncos ownership group includes heirs to the Walmart fortune.

“Our vision is to create a new home for the Denver Broncos that reflects our values of winning and teamwork with a modern Colorado design,” owner and CEO Greg Penner said. “While we considered several options to modify our current facility, we decided to do this the right way by building a new player-centered headquarters with an efficient layout and the latest amenities. Having both our football and business operations on the same campus will foster a championship environment in pursuit of our goals on and off the field.”

Once completed, the Broncos’ new complex will consist of more than 320,000 square feet on 26 acres. Locally sourced building materials will be included in the design.

The existing facility was built in 1990.
