Former UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley admitted that he expected to be selected rather early in the 2015 NFL draft.
That didn’t exactly happen. Hundley ended up falling to the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round. Hundley pretty much landed with the team who currently provides the worst chance of seeing a new starting quarterback anytime in the near future. Barring injury, quarterback Aaron Rodgers is as solid as they come and he won’t be vacating his starting throne anytime soon.
Speaking about his new team, Hundley had this to share regarding his role with the Green Bay Packers (via the Green Bay Press Gazette).
It’s a blessing in disguise. And you know I have a chip on my shoulder, and I’m coming in to work, and that’s what I’ve come down to. I’m just coming in, I’ve got my opportunity. That’s the way I look at it.
While at UCLA, Hundley put up some pretty impressive numbers. He threw for 9,966 yards and 75 touchdowns with 25 interceptions in three seasons. He’s also seen as a major project, which indicates Green Bay could be a solid fit. Why not learn from one of the game’s best?
As it stands now, Hundley will have plenty of years to learn from a MVP quarterback. It will also be interesting to see Rodgers take on a mentoring role. We all know that’s something Brett Favre refused to do with him years back. Somehow, it’s likely Rodgers will be more open to that.
