Rashad Jennings was one of the most underrated players on the free agent market. He put up over 1,000 total yards and six touchdowns in his only season with the Oakland Raiders. Now that the New York Giants have signed Jennings to an undisclosed contract on Monday…
let’s take a quick look at what this deal means for both the Giants and Jennings.
1. It likely means that New York isn’t going to retain Andre Brown, who is apparently drawing interest from the Oakland Raiders (Ian Rapoport of NFL.com). Barring the selection of a running back early in the 2014 NFL draft or the emergence of first-round bust from 2012, David Wilson, Jennings will have an opportunity to start in New York.
2. New York gets a good veteran running back that possesses the capability of shouldering the load. Remember, Jennings was considered the Jacksonville Jaguars running back of the future back 2010 before missing all of the following season with an injury. The talent is there. It’s now all about staying healthy.
