Dexter McCluster was a Swiss Army Knife in his four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He put up 516 rushing yards for the team back in 2011 before taking on more of a receiving role the following two seasons. At 5’9″ and 165 pounds, McCluster is a weapon in both aspects of the game.
According to Adam Schefter over at ESPN, the Tennessee Titans agreed to a three-year deal with McCluster on Monday. He will play somewhat of a similar role that he played in Kansas City.
Let’s take a look at what this deal means for both the electric playmaker and his new team.
1. Titans running back Chris Johnson is likely going to be released at some point in the not-so-distant future. This means that McCluster could see extended playing time in the backfield this upcoming season.
2. Johnson was a solid receiving running back during his tenure with the Titans. McCluster should bring much of the same at a much lower price tag. He also has the ability to line up on the outside at wide receiver.
3. McCluster should play a more important role in the Titans’ offense than he played in Kansas City since a breakout 844-yard performance back in 2011. It will, however, be interesting to see who the Titans add at running back in the draft.
What they’re saying about Dexter McCluster to the Tennessee Titans
I know this was a weak FA WR class, but the biggest signings of day 1 were Andre Roberts and Dexter McCluster? That’s embarrassing.

The addition of Dexter McCluster should put an end to the Darren Sproles talk in Nashville #Titans

Dexter McCluster is being paid too much by the #Titans to be a return guy, they brought in Leon Washington too. ..and he’s a terrible WR.
