Boston Red Sox Nation will be ecstatic with top MLB analyst’s bold prediction

The Boston Red Sox have vaulted back into contention following a transformative offseason that saw them trade for All-Star ace Garrett Crochet and sign two-time World Series champion Alex Bregman.

Boston has been absent from October baseball since 2021, when they reached the American League Championship Series before falling to the Houston Astros in six games. The drought has been painful for Red Sox fans — consecutive last-place finishes in the AL East in 2022 and 2023, followed by a third-place showing last year.

Now, the landscape has shifted dramatically. The New York Yankees are battling a wave of injuries — compounded by Juan Soto’s departure — while the Baltimore Orioles failed to reinforce their rotation after losing Corbin Burnes. Suddenly, the division appears ripe for Boston’s taking.

As the Red Sox resurgence takes shape, a prominent MLB analyst offers a bold projection for their 2025 campaign.

The Athletic’s Eno Sarris has delivered a forecast that will energize Red Sox Nation — Boston will return to the World Series for the first time since their 2018 championship run.

Central to this prediction is the overhaul of their starting rotation. After landing Crochet, Boston secured Walker Buehler and added Patrick Sandoval, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery and expected to join the staff by mid-summer. Homegrown talent Tanner Houck blossomed into an All-Star in 2024, complemented by emerging arms Brayan Bello and Kutter Crawford.

“What they’ve also done over the last bit is really revamped their player development for pitching,” Sarris told Sportsnaut’s Evan Groat. “They do have six or seven guys behind them. They’ve started to develop depth in the pitching staff.”

Beyond their pitching transformation, Boston boasts premier prospects knocking on the door — Kristian Campbell has earned a spot on the Opening Day roster, while blue-chip talents Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer continue developing in the wings.

“The news that Campbell is making the team pushes David Hamilton to an important spot. He’s the glue guy who can play any position on the infield — and well, at that. ‘Our internal defensive metrics always had him at plus plus even at short,’ said one executive with the team, and Defensive Runs Saved seems to agree. With Ceddanne Rafaela being a similar player in the outfield, that means the Sox have veterans, depth and high-end youth all over the diamond. Sounds like a good recipe for success,” Sarris wrote in The Athletic.

While Sarris doesn’t specify whether Boston will capture the championship, merely reaching the Fall Classic would reinvigorate a fanbase that has experienced a crisis of faith in recent seasons.
