Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons has attempted all of 17 three-pointers in his two NBA seasons, hitting on none of them.
It’s one of the biggest knocks people around the Association have on the all-world 23-year-old player.
Seen working on his outside shot during the summer, Simmons indicated during Sixers media day that he will not hesitate taking open three-pointers during the 2019-20 season.
There’s good and bad news for Simmons on this front. First off, he’ll have a whole host of wide-open threes to start the season. Until Simmons proves he can knock it down on a consistent basis, he’ll be left open.
The bad news? It’s something that has never been a part of Simmons’ game. He’s not automatically going to become JJ Redick from distance.
That adds another layer to this. Philadelphia lost both Jimmy Butler and the above-mentioned Redick during the summer. There’s not a lot of outside shooting threats in Philly.
