The Chicago Bears have hired Alan Williams as their new defensive coordinator amid a flurry of coaching moves they announced Wednesday.

They also hired Dave Borgonzi as their new linebackers coach and tabbed Pittsburgh offensive line coach Chris Morgan for the same role in Chicago.

Williams and Borgonzi spent the last four seasons as defensive assistants with Matt Eberflus in Indianapolis. Eberflus was named Bears head coach last week.

Eberflus was Indy’s defensive coordinator the past four seasons. Over that span, Borgonzi coached the Colts’ linebackers and Williams led Indianapolis’ defensive backs/safeties.

The moves come three days after the Bears tabbed Green Bay’s Luke Getsy as offensive coordinator.

Williams, 52, was previously a defensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings from 2012-13 under then-head coach Leslie Frazier.

Williams just completed his second stint in Indy. He was also the secondary coach there from 2002-2011. He also spent four seasons in Detroit as the Lions’ defensive backs/safeties coach.

Borgonzi entered the NFL with the Cowboys in 2011, working as a defensive assistant for two seasons before serving as an offensive assistant with Dallas in 2013.

Before working with Eberflus and Williams in Indianapolis, Borgonzi spent four seasons as a defensive quality control coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under coaches Lovie Smith (2014-15) and Dirk Koetter (2016-17).

Morgan has 13 years of NFL coaching experience. Before spending this season with the Steelers, he was the offensive line coach with the Atlanta Falcons from 2015-20, doubling as running game coordinator in 2018.
