Bears claim former Buccaneers draft bust Roberto Aguayo off waivers

Roberto Aguayo

Just one day after he was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following another disastrous performance, kicker Roberto Aguayo has reportedly been claimed by the Chicago Bears.

Yeah, an erratic kicker setting up shop at Soldier Field in a city defined by its wind is going to work out swimmingly. Heck, maybe the wind will actually straighten him out.

Aguayo, a second-round pick back in 2016, was waived immediately after he continued to show shakiness for the Buccaneers in their first preseason game.

By claiming the Florida State product, Chicago is putting fellow kicker Connor Barth on notice. The nine-year veteran hit on 18-of-23 field goal attempts for Chicago last season.

Meanwhile, Aguayo missed on nine of his 31 field goal attempts as a rookie for the Buccaneers in 2016.
