Colorado Avalanche forward Andrew Cogliano will miss the rest of the playoffs with a neck injury.
“He broke C5,” Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said Sunday after getting the results of a CT scan. “He has a fracture.”
Cogliano, 35, is scheduled to have a follow-up MRI exam.
The defending Stanley Cup champs host the Seattle Kraken in Game 7 of their first-round series Sunday night.
Cogliano was injured late in the second period of Colorado’s 4-1 win at Seattle in Game 6 on Friday night.
Kraken forward Jordan Eberle hit Cogliano from behind and drew a two-minute boarding penalty. He received no further discipline from the league.
“I don’t like the hit,” Bednar said. “From 5 years old you’re wearing stop signs on your back on every jersey.”
Cogliano recorded 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in 79 games in the regular season. He has 445 points (184 goals, 261 assists) in 1,219 career games over 16 seasons with five teams.
