Austin FC signed veteran free agent forward Will Bruin to a one-year contract on Friday.

Financial terms were not announced, but the deal includes an option for the 2024 season.

Bruin, 33, is entering his 13th MLS season, following six with Houston Dynamo FC (2011-2016) and six with Seattle Sounders FC (2017-2022). He won the MLS Cup in 2019 and the 2022 Concacaf Champions League in 2022, both with the Sounders.

He ranks eighth among active league players in career goals scored (77) and 15th in games played (310). His nine career goals in the MLS Cup playoffs are tied for the most among active players.

“I’m thrilled to join Austin FC and ready to do whatever I can to help the team toward its goal of lifting trophies,” Bruin said. “After seeing the success the team had last year and the incredible support from the fan base, I’m confident we can achieve great things together this season. I’m excited to get to work.”

In his MLS career, Bruin has posted 33 assists to go with the 77 goals.

He also was a member of the U.S. men’s national team that won the 2013 Concacaf Gold Cup.

“Will is a proven goal-scorer and winner in MLS, and brings valuable experience to the team,” said Sean Rubio, Austin’s interim sporting director. “He also adds another dimension to our attacking options.”
