Astros likely to place star Carlos Correa on injured list

Houston Astros star shortstop Carlos Correa exited Monday’s game against the Detroit Tigers with what was initially called back discomfort.

While the injury is said to be minor, Astros manager A.J. Hinch noted on Tuesday that Correa will likely head to the injured list for the second time this season.

Correa, 24, missed two months earlier in the campaign after suffering a freak injury during a massage.

The All-Star performer is hitting .278 with 19 homers, 56 RBI and a .914 OPS in just 72 games this season. The hope is that this injury is not long term.
