After losing star Carlos Correa and starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez to the injured list earlier this week, the Houston Astros suffered another injury blow on Thursday when reliever Ryan Pressly hit the 10-day injured list.
Houston placed the All-Star reliever on the injured list with recurring issues with his right knee that will cause him to undergo arthroscopic surgery on Friday.
Pressly missed a few games in mid-July with right knee soreness before landing on the injured list on July 31 before returning on Aug. 9.
The 30-year-old has appeared in six games since his return, but the surgery will sideline him for four-to-six weeks. Houston is hopeful he will return before the postseason begins.
Pressly entered August with a 2.03 ERA and 55/8 K/BB ratio across 44.1 innings. However, he struggled upon his first return with a 6.00 ERA in six innings this month.
