If it were up to Houston Texans running back Arian Foster, it sounds like he would be ready to play right this moment if he was medically cleared to do so.
When Foster addressed the media in Houston on Thursday regarding his recovery from groin surgery, he simply stated this (via the Texans official website):
“I’m feeling wonderful.”
A groin injury caused the Pro-Bowler to miss most of training camp and each of the team’s four preseason games. While Foster wouldn’t give an exact timetable for his return which he described as day-to-day, he did indicate that he was “ahead of schedule.”
Prior to training camp, Foster had said that 2015 would be his best year yet, and by his sunny outlook, it would appear still believes he is on track to meet his expectations. Due to the short period of time the team anticipated Foster to be sidelined, he was not placed on the Texans IR list.
While he remains sidelined, Alfred Blue, Chris Polk and Jonathan Grimes will fill in and try to keep the running game alive.
Foster was a freak of nature in 2014 when he piled up a total of 1,373 yards and 13 touchdowns in just 13 games. It sounds like he could be on course to participate in approximately this many games in 2015.
If Foster posts similar stats like he did in 2014, then he will definitely make anyone who took a flier on him in fantasy football extremely happy.
