The Anthony Davis trade rumors are flying in hot and heavy since the All-Star center’s agent made it clear he’s ready to be traded out of New Orleans.

“Anthony wants to be traded to a team that allows him a chance to win consistently and compete for a championship,” his agent Rich Paul told ESPN on Monday. “Anthony wanted to be honest and clear with his intentions and that’s the reason for informing them of this decision now.”

One of the teams that’s been constantly linked to Davis is, not surprisingly, the Los Angeles Lakers. On Monday after the news broke that Davis has requested the Pelicans trade him, a report emerged from the Los Angeles Times that New Orleans is open to doing a deal that would send the center to the Lakers.

Not surprisingly, such a deal would be costly.

“According to sources unauthorized to speak publicly on the deal, a Lakers offer for Davis would have to start with Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Ivica Zubac and a first-round pick. Davis requested a trade from the Pelicans last week.”

Given that it seems like Lonzo Ball’s tenure in Los Angeles is coming to an end (more on that here), the Lakers would be crazy not to seriously consider such a deal. Pairing LeBron James with a center of Davis’ caliber would give the Lakers a real shot to get back to winning titles if they could continue to add shooters.

It’s going to be fascinating to see what happens going forward.
