Angel City FC announced Tuesday that defender Vanessa Gilles’ loan to Lyon has been extended through June 30, 2025.
The 27-year-old Canadian originally went on loan to the French club in September 2022.
“Angel City continues to foster the growth and development of our players, and Vanessa’s desire to remain at Lyon is her growth trajectory,” ACFC general manager Angela Hucles Mangano said. “Vanessa will always be part of Angel City’s history as our first regular-season goal scorer and we look forward to her return.”
Gilles scored the first-ever goal for ACFC during a 2-1 win over the North Carolina Courage on April 29, 2022.
The 2020 Olympic gold medalist has earned 34 caps for Canada and has scored three goals.
