Andrew Luck “very close” to throwing again

Andrew Luck

Andrew Luck missed the entire 2017 season because of a shoulder injury, but the Indianapolis Colts quarterback appears to be making gradual progress toward a return.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Luck currently doesn’t need another procedure before he resumes football activities.

“One source described Luck as ‘very close’ to throwing, which is a huge milestone for the franchise QB. That also means Luck does not need another surgery, which is good news.”

Rapoport added Luck is working on regaining his strength — something that comes as no surprise since he’s been injured for so long.

With more than six months until serious football, there’s no need to rush Luck’s return. But that’s been the Colts’ course of action since shutting him down during the regular season, and he quietly rehabbed in Europe.

The biggest impact of Luck moving closer to full strength is Indianapolis likely won’t need to discuss selecting a quarterback at No. 3 in the 2018 NFL draft. That allows the Colts to pick the best player available or trade down a few slots and acquire more picks.
