Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut isn’t about to play into the ridiculous narrative that NBA Finals foe Kevin Love is soft because he missed a game due to a concussion.
The always entertaining and outspoken Bogut took it to those who concluded as much after Love missed the Cleveland Cavaliers Game 3 win over Golden State on Wednesday.
“There’s probably people calling Kevin Love soft and those people are idiots,” Bogut said, via ESPN. “You don’t mess around with the brain.”
This comes on the heels of former NBA players Gilbert Arenas and Charles Barkley indicating that Love should not have missed the game.
As Bogut mentions, these are absolutely ridiculous claims considering we are talking about someone’s brain here.
For his part, the former No. 1 overall pick missed two weeks earlier in the season after suffering a violent blow to the head.
“You can be a hero now in the NBA Finals in 2016, and in 2021 you will be sucking food through a straw,” Bogut continued. “And you won’t give a (expletive) about what you did in 2016.”
It’s nice to see a player step up for someone that he will be continuing to battle against for the ultimate prize in the basketball world.
This also tells us that despite the rivalry we see on the court, there is mutual respect between the Warriors and Cavaliers.
Love anticipates that he will be able to play in Game 4 on Friday night when the Cavaliers look to even up the series at two.
