The Bryant’s are keeping Alabama football in the family. Nearly four decades after Paul “Bear Bryant” retired from coaching Crimson Tide football, his great-grandson is joining the program in Tuscaloosa to play quarterback.
Paul Tyson announced on Twitter Thursday that he has committed to Bama.

A four-star recruit from Hewitt-Trussville High School in Trussville, Ala., Tyson will join the Alabama program in 2019. He’ll likely be in line to compete for a starting job, depending on how well Jalen Hurts and National title game hero Tua Tagovailoa perform this coming season. Hurts is a rising junior, while Tagovailoa will be entering his sophomore campaign.
Tyson’s great-grandfather coached the Crimson Tide to six national titles in his 35 years manning the sideline in Tuscaloosa. His kin is now hoping a couple more titles will come calling during his time with the Tide.
