Adam Long shattered a 31-year-old PGA Tour record Thursday by extending his streak to 69 consecutive fairways hit before finally finding the rough.

Long entered the Butterfield Bermuda Championship with his streak at 58, including all 56 fairways at last week’s World Wide Technology Championship.

His missed fairway at the par-4 15th hole at Port Royal Golf Course on Thursday was his first since the final round of the Shriners Children’s Open on Oct. 15.

The previous PGA Tour record was 59, set by Brian Claar in 1992.

Long, 36, finished his opening round Thursday in Southampton Parish, Bermuda, with a 5-under-par 66.

A New Orleans native and Duke alumnus, Long earned his only PGA Tour title to date at the 2019 Desert Classic in La Quinta, Calif.
