9z Team defeated Evil Geniuses and paiN Gaming on Friday to finish sixth at the PGL Major Antwerp: American regional ranking event in Bucharest, Romania.
9z Team claimed the final berth from the 16-team qualifier for next month’s $1 million PGL Major Antwerp. They joined FURIA Esports, MIBR, Imperial Esports, Complexity Gaming and Team Liquid.

9z Team beat Evil Geniuses 2-1 in the eighth-place match. After a 16-11 win on Nuke and a 16-12 loss on Inferno, 9z Team rallied from a 12-7 deficit to win 16-14 on Overpass. Franco “dgt” Garcia of Uruguay and Argentina’s Luca “Luken” Nadotti each had 75 kills, while Luken led 9z Team with a plus-32 kills-deaths differential.
In the sixth-place match, 9z Team swept paiN Gaming 16-11 on Mirage and 19-17 in overtime on Dust II. Uruguay’s Maximiliano “max” Gonzalez tallied a team-high 49 kills and Luken posted a plus-16 differential.
