Five-star guard Boogie Fland announced his commitment Friday to Kentucky’s 2024 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-2 prospect from Archbishop Stepinac in White Plains, N.Y., chose the Wildcats over Indiana and Alabama.
Fland is ranked 20th nationally and No. 2 at his position in the Class of 2024 by the 247 Sports composite.
He told ESPN that his visit with Kentucky coach John Calipari in September helped him make the decision.
“He is a Hall of Fame coach who cares about his players,” Fland said. “When he gave his Hall of Fame speech, his former players and coaches were up on the stage with him. He only wants the best for you. Off the court, he is a funny guy. He has a lot of jokes, and they are spot on.
“He told me this decision was like a marriage. You need to say, ‘I do.’ ”
Fland is the second player to commit to the Wildcats for 2024, joining big man Somto Cyril of Atlanta.
