Reported optimism that the NBA Playoffs will continue

NFL TV ratings compared to the NBA

One day after all three NBA Playoff games were postponed out of protest following the shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin, players are meeting in Orlando to discuss the future of the postseason.

It was noted on Wednesday that both the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers voted to boycott the remainder of the playoffs during a combative meeting between players around the league.

We’re not 100% sure what to expect moving forward, but there might be some good news on this front.

Optimism that the NBA Playoffs will continue

Set to meet for a second time at Walt Disney World Thursday morning, we’re likely going to hear more from players around the NBA in the coming hours.

What we do know is that the actions taken on Wednesday were among the most eye-opening acts of protest around the sports world in decades. In addition to the NBA canceling their playoff game following the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to boycott their matchup against the Orlando Magic, multiple MLB games were also postponed.

This all comes on the heels of Mr. Blake being shot seven times in the back by a police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The events of this past Sunday evening have created a trickle-down effect that places into question the remainder of the NBA Playoffs after the season was suspended for five-plus months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
