Sports world reacts to NFL announcing training camps will start on time

Dallas Cowboys players huddle during training camp

It’s official. The NFL announced Saturday that training camps are on as scheduled, with rookies reporting on July 21, quarterbacks and injured players on July 23, and all other players on July 28.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans are welcoming rookies on Monday.

NFL and NFLPA still have plenty to work out as training camps open

This news comes on the heels of an NFLPA call Friday in which the players union made it clear there is still a ton left to work out on the health and safety front as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic. There is also a financial component to all of this, with the union projecting every team could be down a stunning $70 million in cap space next year.

It’s possible the union will file a grievance after players report if there are concerns about player safety.

But for now, the sports world is rejoicing at the fact football is back.
