Everyone had jokes following Myles Garrett’s reported record-breaking extension

Browns Myles Garrett hits Steelers' Mason Rudolph

Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones is not the only top-end defensive player around the NFL set to secure that bag.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Myles Garrett is closing in on a five-year, $125 million extension with the Cleveland Browns that would make him the highest-paid defensive player in league history.

While the contract likely won’t be made official until later in the week, it’s as eye-opening as anything we’ve seen this offseason.

Garrett’s reported $25 million annual salary would far outpace the $22.5 million Aaron Donald is earning with the Los Angeles Rams.

For good reason.

The No. 1 overall pick back in 2017, Garrett has recorded 65 quarterback hits and 30.5 sacks in three NFL seasons. While he was suspended last season after a dirty situation after the Pittsburgh Steelers, Garrett remains one of the best defensive players in the league.

The NFL world reacted to Tuesday’s momentous news, too. Obviously, that included jokes about Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph.
