The renovation of Bryant-Denny Stadium at the University of Alabama has hit a huge snag. More than 10 workers have tested positive for COVID-19, and there is fear that the number could be much higher.
‘Significant outbreak’ of COVID-19 among workers at Bryant-Denny Stadium
Joseph Goodman of AL.com reported Wednesday that there “has been a significant outbreak of the coronavirus among construction workers at Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium, and a lack of transparency has put many others at risk.”
Goodman went into more detail in his article for AL.com:
“More than 10 people have tested positive for COVID-19, according to people familiar with the outbreak, but the number could be much higher. With so many exposures and a lack of transparency about the outbreak, there is a fear that more positive cases linked to the job site are inevitable.”
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, work was temporarily stopped to facilitate a deep cleaning over the weekend. However, by Monday workers were back on the site.
Goodman reports that, “Further delays could leave work incomplete before the start of the season.”
