Troubling contract update for Cowboys QB Dak Prescott

Cowboys Super Bowl Dak Prescott

The ongoing contract talks between Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys continue to yield very little fruit as the team moves into its offseason program.

Prescott reportedly does not intend to participate in the team’s voluntary offseason program, which will be done virtually along with the rest of the league, and has not yet signed the exclusive franchise tag the team tendered to secure him this spring.

Reporting a bit more on this Wednesday night, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media noted there has been “very little to no traction” on the latest contract discussions between Prescott and the ‘Boys.

Reports indicate the Cowboys offered Prescott more than $105 million guaranteed on their latest attempt to come to an agreement on a new contract.

At this point, it appears that the biggest roadblock to getting the deal done revolves around the length of the contract. Prescott reportedly would rather do a deal similar to what Kirk Cousins did a few years back in Minnesota to take advantage of the rising salary cap in the years to come.
