Time does not cure all ills. Almost 27 years after their heartbreaking 1993 World Series loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Philadelphia Phillies were reminded of it Thursday evening.
With its season suspended, MLB has been replaying some of the greatest games in history on Twitter. That included Toronto’s stunning 8-6 win over Philadelphia in Game 6. It came on a series-ending walk-off homer from Joe Carter.
“Touch ’em all,” as the great Tim McCarver said during the broadcast.
As shining of a moment this was for Canada and Toronto, it did not sit well in Philadelphia. All-Star closer Mitch Williams, who gave up the series-ending three-run blast, would not be the same again.
Now, more than a quarter century later, the Phillies called out MLB in an hilarious manner for replaying their worst nightmare.
The Blue Jays hilariously responded with a back-and-forth.
