The Las Vegas Raiders released linebacker Tahir Whitehead earlier this week and could replace him with Christian Kirksey, who was released by the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported Wednesday morning that the Raiders are bringing Kirksey in for a visit.
In six seasons with the Browns, Kirksey racked up 484 tackles, 11.5 sacks and two interceptions.
One of the biggest needs the Raiders have heading into free agency and the draft is at the linebacker position. We expect general manager Mike Mayock to attack this need aggressively, likely using both free agency and a draft pick or two to supercharge his defense.
Our latest mock draft has Las Vegas taking a defensive tackle at No. 12 overall, however, we wouldn’t discount Mayock trying to swing for the fences with a trade up to land Clemson product Isaiah Simmons.
