The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly waiving center DeMarcus Cousins, who’s missed all season with a torn ACL suffered last August.
This news comes by way of ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne.
Cousins inked a one-year contract with the Lakers in free agency after suffering a torn quad in the playoffs as a member of the Golden State Warriors during the 2018-19 season. He appeared in just 30 games for the Warriors that season due to his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon back in January of 2018.
Once among the most dominant players in the NBA, Cousins’ injuries have derailed his career and may have had something to do with this roster move. It’s worth noting, however that this release may also be due to Markieff Morris coming available following a buyout with the Detroit Pistons.
