Report: Texans, star OLB Whitney Mercilus agree to four-year contract extension

The Houston Texans and star outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus have reportedly come to an agreement on a four-year contract extension to keep him from hitting free agency.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared this news on Saturday.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle also confirmed Schefter’s report, and his colleague John McClain provided financial details.

Mercilus, a 29-year-old former first-round pick, is closing out a phenomenal 2019 campaign that has seen him tally 48 tackles, including nine for a loss, 7.5 sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
