The Cleveland Cavaliers are finally biting the bullet and looking to move All-Star big man Kevin Love after pushing back against the idea of trading him.
At 5-17 on the season, Cleveland is going nowhere fast and is in the early stages of a complete rebuild. It’s going to build this thing around Collin Sexton, Darius Garland and the recently extended Cedi Osman. Love, 31, doesn’t fit into those long-term plans.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Love himself would prefer to be dealt to a contending team ahead of the February NBA trade deadline.
This makes a ton of sense. A veteran of Love’s ilk does not want to waste away on a losing team.
The five-time All-Star has been pretty darn good this season, averaging 16.1 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 37% from distance. There is obviously a market for Love’s services.
