WATCH: Miami safety Amari Carter ejected for targeting, fans throw objects onto the field

Amari Carter targeting

Late in the third quarter Friday night as Miami battled No. 20 Virginia, Hurricanes safety Amari Carter was ejected for a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit.

Initially ruled targeting on the field, it didn’t take long for the refs to confirm the call and eject Carter. It was the second time he was ejected for targeting this year.

Though, Carter didn’t want to leave the field and was penalized again for refusing to head to the locker room — resulting in an illegal substitution with 12 men on the field.

Even worse than all that, Carter didn’t need to lay into the Virginia receiver, and his penalty gave the Cavaliers new life on a play that should have ended the drive.

As a final bit of bad mojo, fans threw objects onto the field in the middle of all that.
