Los Angeles Clippers star and reigning NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard made his regular-season debut with the team against the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday night.
While technically a home game for the Clippers at the Staples Center, Lakers fans made their presence known.
Leonard was heavily booed during pre-game introductions. It was deafening.
Once Leonard started to address Clippers fans immediately prior to tip-off, it did not get much better.
We already know that the star forward previously pushed back against the idea of sharing a market with LeBron James. Despite this, he decided to return home to his Southern California roots in free agency.
The Clippers will never outshine the Lakers in Los Angeles. Leonard will never take the mantle from LeBron. He already felt this before his first regular-season action as a member of the Clippers.
Tough scene.
