San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan will lead his undefeated team into the nation’s capital to take on a hapless Washington Redskins team Sunday afternoon.
We can put to rest whether Shanahan has revenge on his mind going up against his former Redskins organization. He sure the heck does.
Washington’s offensive coordinator from 2010-13, Shanahan did not mince words when talking about his tenure in D.C.
The best part? His father. The worst part? Everything else. Did you hear that Mr. Daniel Snyder and Mr. Bruce Allen? Shanahan is talking about you.
It’s by now well known that there was no love lost between the Shanahans and this downtrodden Redskins organization following their departure.
In fact, Washington’s brass has made it a working MO not to engage in trade talks with the 49ers since Shanahan was hired prior to the start of the 2017 season.
It stems from the handling of Robert Griffin III’s injury and culminated in the younger Shanahan’s preference for Kirk Cousins under center.
This game promises to be among the most lopsided on the Week 7 slate. But given the backstory and Shanahan’s comments on Wednesday, it will be interesting to see just how bad it gets. If he has the opportunity to run up the score, it’s going to happen.
