The New York Yankees just got four-time All-Star relief pitcher Dellin Betances back on the mound this past Sunday after he sat out the entire season a shoulder injury.
Unfortunately, the 31-year-old righty is once again in for a long rehab. The Yankees announced following Tuesday’s game that Betances has suffered a partially torn Achilles.
It goes without saying that this is the end of the line for Betances’ season before it even really got started. It’s also a major blow to the Yankees.
The veteran has pitched to a 2.21 ERA and 1.02 WHIP while striking out 609 batters in just 374 innings since the start of the 2014 season. New York will sorely miss him during the playoffs.
