New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard is officially in the NFL’s concussion protocol, the team announced Monday.
Shepard played in 68 of a possible 69 snaps Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, catching six passes for 42 yards.
The former second-round pick missed most of training camp with a thumb injury but was good to go for Week 1. Now, it seems he may miss the second game against the Buffalo Bills, which is the team’s home opener.
The Giants signed Shepard to a four-year, $41 million contract extension this past spring.
